Hi and welcome to my blog site for 'PAUA FLOWER POWER '. I have created this site to share with all whom care to see...the beauty of Paua in the flower form.
Paua is New Zealands name for Abalone shell. It is special to New Zealand compared to most abalone in the world, due to its beautiful intense colors of Purple, Blue and Greens.
In 2004 I gathered some paua pieces and was inspired to create a flower out of them.......on this journey I came up with some individual key points which were the completion to the begining of the Journey of the Paua Flower for me. Try as I did to stay with 5 petals to each flower it just did not seem balanced to me. I went with the 6 petals and all clicked into place. I spend many hours trawling through kilo's of paua to find the right shape, color, and size for each individual flower to come together.
I developed a Paua Flower Brooch and in October 2007 I designed and made the first of my line of Paua flower stems (Copyright NZ Oct 2007 as stem only) which have become the fund raising flower for helping towards Wat Opot Childrens Community in Takeo Provence, Southern Cambodia ( check out the conected blog site called 'Flowers for Cambodia').
I enjoy every flower I bring together and create...I hope you are inspired by it as well.

The Energetic Properties
I was once told by a lady admiring the Paua flower stems I had created....she asked me why I use 6 petals to create the flower instead of 5.......I explained to her that even though I tried to use only 5 petals, it just never felt right for me....it only felt right when there were 6 petals........she then laughed and told me the following
Paua = Against war and for peace 6 Petals = The number for Divine Order and restoration
She said it was fitting that I these flowers were made like this as the reason for them being made was to help create funds for me to help at Wat Opot Children's Community Cambodia.
What a wonderful confirmation about what I am doing.
